3 Tips to Landing Page Success

1. Less is more

Bright colors may attract the human eye, but if your landing page layout is too ‘busy,’ your prospects will become distracted. The same goes for promoting too many offers on a single landing page. Keeping the content, ads and graphics simple but still appealing to your target audience and you will get the best response rates.

Build your landing pages with a single goal in mind to get the maximum amount of leads. Figure out what you want your visitors to do before they actually get there, and it will be easier for you to compose pages that crossover various demographics.

2. Get to know your audience

You may personally find a particular shade of blue appealing, but if it has been statistically proven to reduce sales, your opinion doesn’t count. One of the biggest mistakes that marketers make when developing new web properties occurs when they fail to consider the thoughts, feelings and background of their potential customers. Learn what makes your targeted audience ‘tick’ so that you are able to appeal to their innermost desires.

Of course, none of your prospects will be entirely similar. Factors such as educational level, age, gender, occupation and even hobbies will allow you to visualize and better relate to the very people you are trying to sell to.

3. Research your competitors

Learning what methods other websites in your niche are doing will give you a big advantage. Mainly, this will give you the ability to capitalize on their shortcomings. Copying another successful landing page won’t really help your cause, but focusing on its flaws will give you additional insight on your own errors.

In fact, seeing what your competitors are doing with their landing pages will give you an idea of what you realistically can and cannot do. Taking calculated risks can payoff, but not without doing your due diligence.
